Sempermed at Medica 2015: Enhanced Safety for Users and Patients
Vienna, Austria / Düsseldorf, Germany, 16 November 2015 - Sempermed, one of the world’s leading producers of medical gloves, is showing its product range under the motto of increased safety at Medica, the world’s largest trade show for medicine and medical technology held from November 16- 19, 2015. Sempermed will present its newest generation of surgical and examination gloves which offers more protection than ever to users and patients. Surgical gloves are now certified both as a medical product and as personal protective equipment. In the field of examination gloves, the latest innovation under the brand name Sempercare® Safe+ stands out due to its extra length offering enhanced protection for wrists and forearms.
“Our top priority is ensuring the safety of users and patients. For this reason our researchers work day in and day out to improve our gloves. The latest Sempermed innovations comprise a step in this direction“, says Clemens Eichler, Head of Sempermed.
Surgical gloves "Made in Europe"
Sustainability is another important issue for Sempermed. Accordingly, the company is committed to high ethical and social standards as well as fair working conditions for all its employees. An independent assessment of Sempermed’s adherence to the Code of Conduct of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) concluded that the company is 100% BSCI-compliant at its production site for surgical gloves located in Wimpassing, Austria. “The BSCI audit shows that we demonstrably and visibly support fair working conditions. On the basis of our surgical gloves ‘Made in Europe’, we are the world’s only glove manufacturer offering our customers a two-fold advantage: the highest European standards for both quality and sustainable production,” Clemens Eichler adds.
AQL: A Guarantee for Quality
The AQL value is one of the most important quality criteria in the production of gloves. The products are even safer due to the fact that Sempermed has reduced the permeation rate of most of its surgical gloves to the outstanding level of AQL 0.65.* The extension of the designated purpose from a medical product (MD) to personal protective equipment (PPE) is a further advantage. The two-fold certification offers double safety thanks to the testing of chemicals and cytostatic agents.** For this reason surgical gloves can be used for different applications, whether in the industrial, service or health care sectors.
Sempercare® Safe+: Extra protection for critical applications
The Sempercare® Safe+ gloves offer additional safety thanks to their extra long cuffs. Therefore they are particularly suitable for critical applications requiring enhanced barrier protection. The greater length of 300 mm makes the gloves the first choice for dealing with high-risk patients and skin-damaging substances.* The added length offers extended splash protection, especially for wrists and forearms. The special textured fingers enable secure grasping and optimal sensitivity of touch. Sempercare® Safe+ is powder-free and does not contain any natural latex proteins. That is why it is optimal for users suffering from or wanting to prevent type-1 allergies.
