Um den Green Glove her-

zustellen, wird zunächst der

Rohstoff Nitrillatex mit Farbe,

Stabilisatoren und anderen

Zusatzstoffen gemischt. Dann

werden die zuvor gereinigten,

handförmigen Keramikformen

eingetaucht. Der in diesem

Prozess gebildete Film aus

Nitril wird getrocknet und

vulkanisiert, anschließend

gewaschen. Statt sie zum

Abschluss in einem Chlorbad

zu behandeln, werden die

Handschuhe mit einem

Polymer beschichtet. Danach

werden sie automatisch von

der Form gezogen, wobei

der Handschuh auf links

umgestülpt wird – die äußerlich

aufgetragene Beschichtung ist

nun also innen und erleichtert

so dem Nutzer später auch

das Anziehen.

For Green Glove production,

Sempermed first mixes the

nitrile latex with colouring

agents, stabilisers, and other

ingredients. Then the clean

hand forms are dipped

into the solution. The

coated forms are then dried,

vulcanised, and rinsed. Instead

of chlorinating the finished

gloves, Sempermed applies a

polymer coating to the gloves.

When the gloves are pulled

from the form the coating will

be on the inside and make

them slip on smoothly.

High social standards

Consumers’ sustainability demands are by no means

limited to ecology but also include social criteria like

work conditions at the manufacturing and resource

ends. “Sempermed is a stellar example on the social end,

too, with its BSCI certification,” explains Udo Dürholt.

The Business Social Compliance Initiative certificate for

sustainable management is only issued to companies

that not merely once met high social standards in work

safety, working hours, living wages, and such but main-

tain them and have this regularly checked by external

auditors. “The retail industry demands from us and our

suppliers absolute transparency so they can verify that

the entire supply chain is clean.”

Green Glove production meets the highest industry

standards at all levels. “Actually, it even goes beyond

that in terms of environmental issues,” expands Udo

Dürholt. “Cutting out accelerators and chlorine should

put us by far at the leading edge in the upcoming offi-

cial environmental safety tests; at least our comparative

tests have shown this.”That is music in the retail indus-

try’s ears. The Green Glove will be offered in a cheerful

mint green as typical for medical and professional

hygiene applications as well as in the typical white for

home use. The Green Glove will thus offer a new colour

option on the supermarket shelves.

With the Green Glove, Sempermed has thus again ex-

ceeded its own and its customers’ standards for being

the most sustainable and innovative glove manufacturer

on the market. That is not just good for the environment

and consumer health but also for the company itself. It

helps the company build up its market lead, reach new

market segments, and creates new sales potential going

forward. Sempermed has applied for two patents on the

innovative curing process alone. ••
