PRESS RELEASE NO. 2/2004

SEMPERIT AG HOLDING INDUSTRIAL GROUP:
BALANCE SHEET PROFIT FOR 2003 HITS NEW RECORD LEVEL
54 CENT PER SHARE INCREASE IN DIVIDEND PROPOSED

In its 2003 financial statements, the industrial group of Semperit AG Holding achieved a new record profit before tax (profit on ordinary operating activities) of EUR 44.3 million (+ 6.3 %). This marks the thirteenth consecutive year it has improved its profits. Despite weak economic stimuli early on and a disadvantageous EURO-US dollar exchange rate, sales also reached a record high of EUR 463.5 million (+ 2.7 %).

All four business segments recorded sharp increases in output and sales. Internationally, we achieved welcome growth in market share once again, especially in the US market. All group companies posted satisfactory results.

In keeping with this continued positive trend, the company plans to increase its dividend again, from 41 cents to 54 cents per share. This corresponds to a dividend of 52 % (2002: 39 %) in relation to share capital.

The financial ratios again confirm the solid economic foundation on which the Semperit Group is built. The ratio of equity to total assets, an indication of the group's financial independence, improved further, rising from its previous high level of 45.6% to 46.5%. The return on equity totaled 28.5 % while the return on total capital employed amounted to 13.3 %.
